Gates and railings for a luxury new build home
Background
Our client’s property is a newly built detached villa, located in the established suburb of Giffnock – southside of Glasgow.
Constructed on a 400 m2 plot, and built over 3 levels, the property is a showcase of contemporary design, high-end construction and luxurious finishing and appointments.
Open plan living spaces with modern décor are further enhanced by the huge amount of light that enters the property via the large floor to ceiling windows. The ground floor interior space seamlessly connects with the exterior patio through wide sliding doors, with the landscaped garden areas of the house constructed over two levels.
The Brief
Our client first approached Gates Scotland Ltd with a requirement for security gates for both the front and side entrances to the property – The side entrance being used as the main access for vehicles, situated on a busy main road. With the front, main entrance gates situated on a perpendicular boundary wall near the front of the property.
“I spent considerable time researching local businesses who could undertake this type of project. Gates Scotland was identified. I was impressed by their website and customer reviews”
In keeping with the aesthetics of the house and garden areas, clean, modern and simplistic design was a requirement for the new gates; Contemporary Black doors, window frames, facia boards and soffits, were key design features at the property; As a result, Black was the colour of choice for the new gates.
After our client had seen the quality of our gates and service, Gates Scotland Ltd were then asked to design and manufacture a number of runs of custom exterior railings for the garden areas and Juliet balcony rails for the windows.
“In order to make the property safe and compliant the upstairs windows required a barrier to prevent occupants of the house from falling. My preference was for metal balustrades as opposed to Glass….”
The Solution
The Gates Scotland team established a design proposal that matched the clients needs and budget.
For the gates, our popular ‘McAdam’ style, was chosen as a good fit in terms of a contemporary aesthetic, with enhanced security – The McAdam is part of our metal frame range of gates, built from 50x50mm steel box section, galvanized and powder coated Black, with matching low maintenance composite board infill.
To enable convenience and safety, automated gates were chosen to allow the home owners access to the property from the busy road, without the need to leave the vehicle.
‘Roger Technology’ above ground automation equipment, with appropriate safety accessories and remote key fob access were specified for the project.
“We were very impressed with the quality of the new gates, as they were a lot more substantial than we anticipated. They offer complete privacy and improved security. Exactly what I was looking for!”
For the Juliet balconies, a total of 12 windows were accurately measured, with the rails designed and manufactured in accordance with regulations.
For the garden areas, a substantial meterage of railings were required. The Gates Scotland team carried out a thorough survey of the area, taking into account the complex layout for the railings – which consisted of a combination of straight runs, handrails for steps, and radiused panels to match the curved section of wall that connects with the basement area.
A simple, contemporary vertical bar style was decided, with all rails galvanized and coated black, to complement the other features of the home.
The Gates Scotland fitting team took responsibility for all installation works – both gates and railings. Installations were carried out to a high standard, with our conscientious teams working efficiently and leaving all areas clean and tidy after the project has been completed.
“I am so pleased with how the job turned out and with the service I received. Every stage of the process was well handled, from the initial sales stage, to final fitting..”
